2 Years Mash-Up Your Bootz Birthday Celebration

Mash-Up Your Bootz is partying its 2nd Birthday this month. Over the last two years, we (DJ Morgoth & Dr.Waumiau) destroyed pop, rock, electro and all styles of music in Berlin-Clubs, together with several great Guest DJ's from USA, Austria, France, UK, Switzerland or Denmark. MUYB also released so far 23 unique Party Samplers, which are still downloadable at the Blog-Section. We wanna thank all DJ's & Producers, Bastard Pop Fans, Party peoples and supporters and the MUYB Crew for 2 wonderful years. Party with us this weekend and let's have some fun together. We will also have some B-Day Specials. But now, after two great years there will be also some changes and fresh new stuff.

We are happy & proud to announce that we will start BOOTIE Berlin in June, with a Special Guest from San Francisco.
The Mashup Legend Party Ben is spinnng at the premier party and makes his own Berlin debut.

"In For The Kooks" with La Roux

2009 looks set to be a good year for electro music, especially for new acts. 
If La Roux’s second single, In for the Kill, is anything to go by then the London-based electro duo’s debut album should be well worth a listen.

It’s a fair bet that the album won’t feature a collaboration with Brighton indie rockers The Kooks, which is a damn shame, as the two bands sound great together.

Rage Against the Machine vs. Beck mashed by Overdub

A few years back when the Beastie Boys released a number of acapella versions of their songs for free via the group's website, Beastie-mashes were immediately everywhere. One that really got me going at the time was DJ Payroll's mash of "Intergalactic" and Rage Against the Machine's "Know Your Enemy." It was fairly rudimentary, but it really hit the spot.

Since then, proper mashes using any RATM tracks have been few and far between--many coming up short. One has just crossed my path that bucks the trend however, Overdub's "Mixed Farm." The track meshes an instrumental of RATM's cover of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" with vocals from Beck's "Mixed Bizness." For fans of either act, this is a must-listen track.

House of Pain vs Amsterdam Klezmer Band vs Pa Brapad mashed by Faroff

File under: I can't believe someone actually thought of doing this

Brazil's DJ Farfoff (who splits his time between Massachusetts and Brasilia) has created a multi-genre trio of tracks released as his East vs. West digital EP. The tracks take an extreme of offering classic songs contrasted with world music: "Lady Madonnavic" for instance mashes the Beatles with dunkelbunt, Boban i Marko Markovic & Danzel. Unique is probably the best way of describing it.

The entire set is available via Farfoff's MySpace page, including this track: "House of Klezmer" which pins House of Pain's "Jump Around" against Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Pa Brapad. Unique...

Slayer vs. Queen mashed by DJ Schmolli

There's been an ongoing battle in my head between who is the best at using metal or hard rock tracks in their boots. For as much as I've heard and enjoyed from Morgoth, Aggro1 or ToToM, a longtime personal favorite of mine has just raised the bar considerably. I've never (eeeeever) heard a mashup that utilizes a track from Slayer... until now.

The idea itself seems absolutely undesirable--you'd think that Slayer's punishing thrash would simply make for a cringe-worthy mashup, right?

Well, Schmolli has given it his best, in combining Slayer and Queen into the track "Queen will Slay You." The bootlegger himself giving a fair warning as to the... err... uniqueness of the song, "This one is only for the die hard DJ Schmolli fans, 220 bpm and under two minutes this one marks one of the most brutal mashups ever made i guess."

So here it is, for better or worse, the only Slayer mashup I've ever heard:
