Had a sneak peak at this video/boot last week and just got the ok from DJ Le Clown to release it on Friday the 13th for a world wide premier on Mashuptown. 'This Town' features music/video from The Blues Brothers movie and a popular 80's band Sparks. Here is what Le Clown had to say about the project.
"The Blues Brothers" is more than the funniest Rock movie of all times it's also a cure, a strong medicine against sadness and stress. When I'm depressed- like all other clowns - I watch this movie and it cheers me up! So I think it's particularly welcome in those times of world crisis. Again the movie inspired me a mashup and used the original soundtrack of the film instead of the clean average recorded versions...Then u can here the cars the gunshots, Dan Aykroyd and the great John Belushi...Thanks to John Landis for this treasure.
This bootleg was done just before I came to San Francisco and L.A for the Booties, that's why I dedicated the vid to A plus D .
I'll always remember our travel in ( a shit!) car between S.F&L.A .Those "bootleg heroes" 2 strong characters at the front of the car ; I said to myself that they were kinda "Boots brothers" travellin' all the time, djing, constantly workin' on new parties and always keeping their smile and also their ears on all new mashups releases...Did u know there was a Bootie Beijing now!
Concerning Sparks, It's one of my favorite Band of the eighties. "This town ain't big enough for the both of us" seemed really appropriate even if I had to detune it and slow it down a bit, a pity in a way; a blaspheme I know, but not my last one; hope the fans and the band which is still alive will forgive me. The meaning of those few lyrics led me to use some shots of "Sin City" (Roberto Rodriguez Masterpiece) to make it more dark and wild, more ...21st century ; needed a touch of blood!
So that was it ; cinema led me to music and music brung me back to the screen!"
