Bootie La!!!! Saturday June 2nd at Safari Sams

Returning to Los Angeles and finding a new location at Hollywood’s Safari Sam’s this Saturday, is the party of all mash-up parties, Bootie! And I must say I was ever so pleased to hear of their new location, as Safari Sam’s has become one of my favorite venues in town, for various reasons. And, like every other Bootie event expect the night to be one hell of an entertaining night. Kicking things off at 10:30 will be a rare performance by what many consider the pioneers of the bootleg world “The Evolution Control Committee”. ECC will be onstage to do a Wheel of Mash-Up show. The wheel is actually two wheels: the outer one chooses the music, and the inner one chooses the vocals. Audience members are brought up on stage to spin the wheel, and the music and vocals are mashed up on the fly. The Midnight mash up show will feature La’s very own Foxy Cotton. He was the mastermind behind last year's mini rock-opera version of the Dean Gray - American Edit bootleg album, and he knows how to put on a show! And as always Bootie La resident DJ’s Adrian & the Mysterious D and DJ Paul V. will be on hand dishing out the primo mash-up bootlegs all night. Be sure to tune in to DJ Paul V.’s weekly show “The Smash Mix” on La’s Indie 103.1 to get a preview of some of the tunes you will hear at Bootie.  And if for some God forsaken reason you can’t attend Bootie on Saturday, tune into his other show on Indie 103.1“Neon Noise” (you can stream it live from the indie 103.1 web site.) from 12am-3am. The king of the powerhouse mashups Aggro1 just posted this monster over on his website. This is a full throttle rock and roll banger that uses The Crystal Method’s remix of P.O.D.’s “Boom” for the music, and The Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues" for the vocals. Jim Morisson ain’t just rollin’ in his grave – he’s rockin’ as well! And his voice somehow sounds even more powerful than in the original cut. My only problem with this track is that it’s too short - I want more!

Former Mashuptown contributor Simon Iddol has just released the latest in the WHA!? bootleg compilation series. This is definitely one for a rainy day, and features mainly ambient soundscapes and self reflecting slow-burners by many of today’s top mashup artists. Find the announcement post HERE. It’s possible the two made love in real life (seeing as they were both alive at the same time, and one of them is Madonna), and I guess this would be their soundtrack.

Our man Lobsterdust has been a regular on our front page and well with the caliber of tracks he's been laying down, it's no surprise he gets so much coverage here. It's all evidenced in his latest, which is titled "Papa Kill-R", where Timbaland's "The Way I Are" goes head to head with The Temptations "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and Adamski's (ft. DJ Earlybird has fused together another good musical cocktail here. One part Hall & Oates, another part Ace of Base, and a dash of Peter Gabriel. Shake and serve. At first you wonder how this concoction will hit you, as it warbles through the intro. But by the end you’ll be drinking heaps and singing along with the chorus “Woah there she goes/All that she wants” (But all you one-mouthed people will have to choose one chorus or the other to belt out).
