There's no imagination on this track at all. He literally lays one unedited song right over the other. The lead vocals fight at several points. At other times the two original keys double in unnatural ways creating tuning issues. No arrangement, no production, no life in this mix. You can hear the sync software clipping the track and it all sounds unprofessional as a result.
Mashup Town as a whole is a brilliant site. I love almost everything you post. There's so much musicality and creativity here. That said, you've hosted far, far better than Mr. Martinn's mix.

Thank you for posting my mash here. And for the critics: Yes, one unedited song over the other. I think that's just the power of this mash; there was no need to edit. What sound clipping? time stretching? I did not use timestretching. Just manual speed adjustments at some places, to get the beats synchronised. The lead vocals meet eachother, but not key clashing imo.
Greetings, "Mr. Martinn"

Can't believe no one thought to mash up U2 and Coldplay before. Good track!

It does work....

I agree that this works. To me it sounds just like Bono singing back-up to Chris Martin. Perhaps a little vocal competition toward the end as JD suggests, but still a pretty powerful mix.

Well, it's not very good listen but there are moment's of it "working" slightly and if you try not to listen to cluttered mix you can hear how the bits fit, more so towards the end I think. It's more a theoretical look at how some parts could sound if you had the masters to work with I think. The degrading of the sound quality due to the 'tempo' (time stretching)changes is too noticable too.

I thought it was great. There were a few parts in the middle where the singing got muddled, but the vast majority of it fit together flawlessly. Edge's guitar and Chris's piano had that same kind of shimmering, staccato essence that made it work. And whenever Chris or Bono was "oohing" in the background, it seemed like the other was layering it with the actual verse. Nice combination!

IT IS AWSOME.......THE NEW HOTTNESS

wow that was kinda cool. i personally LOVE the original song by Coldplay, but U2 gives it exra melody. Some places seem a bit akward like when your in your car listening to headphones and someone turns on the radio really loud, but other parts were awsome. I especailly liked where the two groups sang at the same time and then beat/tempo got stronger/sped up. I can see from comments that some people didn't like it, im surprise. Nice Job "Mr. Martinn" <3

I heard this on the podcast and I've loved it ever since.
This is, by far, the best mashup I have ever heard!
