We just got word that DJ Le Clown's latest track 'In Da Black' was ok'd for release. The prolific French Bootlegger strikes again with not only a great mp3 but a dope video as well which is available for download as well. When asked what the track was all about Le Clown had to say this....
In da Black" is indeed a kind of mourning title; first, for AC/DC ,"Back in Black" was their strong resurrection after Bon Scott's death. After doing the video with those cemetery pictures at the start, I was wondering "who am i gonna dedicate this one to?" When I had this phone call telling me that a very good friend of mine Jacqueline just died from a breast cancer...I had my answer... Well that's life as we say...
" In da black" is also, in a way, where all of us Bootleggers are, doin' music without any legal rights to do it, where is it gonna lead us - to which future?( jail ?!!!)
Maybe one of these days we'll have to think about what should be the new deal for Art in our new 21st century with the use of computers. What's the difference between Andy Warhol's "Campbell's soup" painting or other "collage" artists work and some good bootleggers tracks ? Just few million dollars men!
In less than 10 years, with the improvement of data processing I'm sure we'll be able to do new movies with actors who have been dead for years! What's gonna happen then? OK that enough for philosophy! The idea for this boot came first when I mixed Scissor Sisters "Laura" on AC/DC's overused but always fresh title ! I liked this "shaman shaman" - I still don't know what it means! Tell me if you know!- but it sounded a bit French to me and it worked pretty good; so as I'm not always intellectual (!); I decided to keep it...And I just added the brilliant 50 Cent's "in da club" flow in a vocoder, and that lifted the whole track (and brought a bit of fun too!); and that was it!"
