The Avalanches

P2489412u80We haven’t ever posted anything from The Avalanches, and it’s about time. The electronic music group from Melbourne, Australia have been around in some form or another since 1995, but really made a name for themselves in 2000 when they released “Since I Left You” an album that contained over 3,500 samples and received wide critical acclaim including nine ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) award nominations and a 9.5 from the esteemed pitchforkmedia. Soon after they opened for Beck, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Stereolab, and have done official remixes for Belle & Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand, and Wolfmother. We haven’t heard from them in a while, but according to their myspace, they are putting the final touches on their second album – but talks of the new album have been around for over a year now, and details are few and far between - except for the fact that it will be one huge party rocker – so only time will tell. “Ray of Zdarlight” was unleashed about a year ago when these talks of the new album first started to surface, and it’s a perfect mashup of Wham’s “A Ray of Sunshine” and Digitalism’s floor burner “Zdarlight.” If this smooth as butter mix is any indication of what the new record will be like, set some cash aside NOW so you can get it the instant it comes out.

Can't Stop Callin' Out

CovercantstopcallinoutlgIt’s been a while since we posted anything from the mashup Jedi from SF, a one Mr. Party Ben. We told you before about the relationship between Party Ben and Bay Area smoothster supreme Lyrics Born , perhaps best known as one half of the duo Latyrx - although he has a superb solo album and remix album under his own name so it’s hard to say. Anyways, go get all the Lyrics Born you can find over at Quannum’s website, because he is one dope lyricist. Now back to Party Ben. For a Valentine’s Day treat, Party Ben has unleashed Can’t Stop Callin’ Out – The complete Party Ben vs Lyrics Born experience. The EP includes LB vs U2 and LB vs Average White Band – two versions of each track. There’s a bonus track as well, my favorite of the bunch. It’s a brand new slice and dice of LB and Sebastian’s Ross Ross Ross, and it bangs. To get it, and all the rest of the EP, go to Party Ben’s website HERE. And to wet your appetite, here’s the 2005 remix of Callin’ on Sunday – Callin’ Out vs Sunday Bloody Sunday. Now go kiss your girlfriend or something.

DJ Le Clown wants to be your Valentine

Gimmewhat Well you've seen the latest DJ Le Clown video now for a few days on MashuptownTV playa and now you can have the mp3 courtesy Monsieur Le Clown.

What you're waitin' for?....Love of course is the only answer!!! what else?! Such a hot singer; this Gwen Stefani...a mix of innocence and perversity...Like in the Lewis Carroll's tales...And so glamourous....Like me!
I heard she was a fan of "the sound of music" with the great Julie Andrew- I must confess i cry each time i look at this Musical chef d'oeuvre (only when I'm on my own!)- that's why i decided to use the beautiful nun in the video; and frankly when i started to look at Gwen's video ; i found a lot of common points (lights, outdoors scenes) between this movie and her world...So it was the track for me to follow...."Time Tunnel" crew was pleased to make the link between her sexy Alice in wonderland's world and the old images of the Spencer Davis Group..."Gimme some lovin'": Yes Sir! Pinch of Busta Rhymes under the form of Spawn was necessary to put some shadow in this "over glittering mashup"; thank to Him and to Creedence Clearwaters' Revival guitar gimmick...So hope i 'll give you in this bootleg a bit of what you're all waiting for, especially on this
V-Day....LOVE !
with a special kiss to Sylvie....

Hey You!

Suytheyyou_5SUYT is a collaboration project between PhatBastard and ComaR from France. With Hey You! we have a nice new version of Skee-Lo’s (only) classic I Wish. One of the lines in that track is “Hey you, what’s that sound” – a clip sampled in the track with that title by Les Rythmes Digital. So I guess we know where the idea for this comes from. But I’m surprised nobody has done it sooner, as this is a great mash. Wait for the chorus.

DJ Max Entropy's new "B-Sidez" Album Released

BsidezcoverGreat new album out last week produced by a good friend of the MTown DJ Max Entropy.  We gave you a taste last week and now that the whole album has dropped we thought we'd give you the link to the tunes.  The compilation can be found at DJ Max's site right HERE.  Many great tracks to fill your mp3 playa.  The range of this compilation is probably the most interesting.  Dance floor filla's to hard core Mashes all mixed with flawless production values.  A man that is never at a loss for words DJ Max comments on the album

"I didn't call it B-Sidez for nuthin'.  These are rough-cut mashups I felt were undeserving of individual release.  As far as genres go, they clash throughout the entire album.  However, backing track wise, the album contains mostly pop/rock in the beginning,  hip-hop/rap in the middle,  and electronic/metal at the end."
-DJ Maxentropy

One of my favorites is below.  You all have a great weekend and big ups to Max for the new trax.  Peace.

More Matt Hite

877272925_lCan we post two tracks in a row from the same mashup artist? You bet we can! Especially when it’s DJ Matt Hite. If you haven’t familiarized yourself with his catalogue yet, make sure to grab it all HERE, because it’s all quality. When this track came out in August of 2006 it didn’t leave my mp3 player for months, and it’s actually still in there. One of my all-time faves without a doubt. With Step To Silence, Matt gives us Coolio vs. INXS vs. Ciara vs. Depeche Mode vs. Survivor vs. Blondie vs. The Chemical Brothers. So good…

New Matt Hite Release Today

Wpcontentuploadsoutofmymind2 Just released today - a long awaited new track from Matt Hite at Beatmixed.

It’s been a while, dear readers. Let’s make up for some lost time.

This latest mashup really could have been the soundtrack to my teenage years. Both bands heavily influenced not only my fashion at the time (think safety pins, dyed black hair and trench coats) but also helped to cultivate my keen taste for “synthpop” music. I was what some would call a P.I.B. — a “person in black.”

If this all sounds very romantic and nostalgic, you might be right. I have a lot of great memories associated with both these songs. I hope this mashup does them both justice.

Depeche Mode (”Just Can’t Get Enough”) vs. Pet Shop Boys (”Always On My Mind”)

Props to Matt.  Don't keep us waiting so long again mate.  Peace.
