Two For Thursday: A Loo & Placido Rewind Moment - Part I

In this "Two For" edition I bring you a little Loo and Placido rewind moment. We first begin with their mash-up titled "Still Losing Myself." This particular track nicely blends Depeche Mode's Synth-Pop, Post-Funk groove with the West Coast Hip-Hop jam groove that is Dr. Dre.  Although only featuring two song elements, this Loo and Placido mash-up evidences the type of production work that is the sine qua non of any mash-up producer who hopes to make a splash on the air waves.  This mash-up incorporates a strong foundation between the acapella and the instrumental--they are complementary to one another without either trying to overpower the other as the focal point of the mash-up.  Further, L&P do a nice of job of creating the "call and response" section between Dr. Dre/Snoop and Depeche Mode around the two minute mark. This section provides a little forward direction to an otherwise ultra-laid back synth-hip-hop groove.  Five stars all around for this one.
