DJ Le Clown Remembers Katrina and NO Victims

Dj_le_clown_indian_copie Another anniversary of the Katrina disaster has come around.  DJ Le Clown has produced a track and had this to say in rememberance:

I don't know what to say part that when us French saw what happened to New Orleans, we were deeply shocked to see such a disaster in the most developed country of ze World and that the rescue made more than 2 days to come... Then Ray Nagin interview was on all TVs here in europe, so i couldn't resist to use it with Indian reservation (a wonderful song released in 1972 ! ) and make a kinda political boot with it , so this boot (which is more a remix indeed) is for my New Orlean's bro & sisters (black or not) and for this town of N.O. which is for us French a symbol of music and brotherhood between our 2 nations...

Ray Nagin vs Don Fardon.  Props to DJ Le Clown(site here).  Peace

It's Raining Umbrellas

Dj_topcat_south_park

I’m sure you’ve heard a few mashups of Rhianna’s “Umbrella” at this point, because there seems to be a billion out there (approximately). My choice is a pretty straightforward mash from the appropriately self described “human mashup machine,” DJ Topcat. Next time you get that wedding DJ gig and someone requests some top 40 ish, and someone else requests “Red, Red Wine,” you know what to throw on.

DJ Paul V. Mashuptown Exclusive!!!!

Djpaulv_8_22_072_2 Our very good friend DJ Paul V. just delivered a brand new mashup,  that he recently whipped together for us over here at M-Town. Paul V. is a very busy man now a days in the Los Angeles area, between putting on his very popular radio shows "Neon Noise" and "The Smashmix" on Los Angeles' Indie 103.1, DJ'ing at some of the hottest clubs in the area and of course putting together stellar mashups such as this one.

-This mashup started last week, when I stumbled upon this really cool Boston guy named Twink, who makes tracks using toy pianos, xylophones, Casios, and 8-bit gaming sounds. He'd posted up his version of 'Axel F' and I loved it! As I was in the middle of making a "Neon Noise" mashup set, my brain said 'Mash it with something!' So I kept it in the 80's pocket by using the vocal from George Kranz's 'Din Daa Daa'. I hope you find it fun, smooth, 'n creamy - just like cheese from a can!"

Banner_rotate_2 Some new Erb wafted our way late last night.  You don't hear too many Toto boots these days so for us old timers this is a real back to the future moment.  You can catch more of the Erb at www.djerb.net.  Get this one quick before it goes up on his 'for sale' page.  Peace.

Bootie August Top Ten/With New Paul V. and Party Ben Tracks

Bootietop10_logo_2

The dynamic duo of Adrian and the Mysterious D have posted their picks for the August Bootie Top Ten over at the Bootie Blog. This month has two exclusive mash-ups from both San Francisco's Party Ben and our fellow Los Angeleno DJ Paul V. It seems this has been a great month for some Amy Winehouse boots, hence the few that made it into the Top ten this month, maybe that's why she was hospitalized wth exhaustion. Make sure you check out each and every one them over at http://www.bootieusa.com/blog/ . Were gonna leave you with our (The Illuminoids) Bootie Top Ten inclusion this month, Bonde Do Role vs. Wolfmother vs. Deep Purple mash-up titled "Solta O Space Frango Woman"

MarkJ Is Acceptable In The 2000's

Markjmix

Newcomer MarkJ just moseyed onto the scene with a keeper. It’s Calvin Harris vs Destiny’s Child, and it’s a slick match up. I wasn’t sure I liked it at first, but realized the problem: The Calvin Harris track (Acceptable In The 80’s) is such a good one on its own, I was closing my mind to anything but the pure version. Realizing my folly (especially being an avid mashup collector), I gave it another listen, and MarkJ deserves some props here. This one is definitely accepted!

You Can't Hurry A Hard Life

Dsc03060

Time for a ballad. DJ Earlybird just released a great one in this mashup of Queen's 'A Hard Life' vs The Supreme's 'You Can't Hurry Love.' This one definitely grows on you. At first, it’s likeable, sure, but after just a couple more listens you won’t be able to get it out of your head, or the smile off of your face. DJ Earlybird releases new mashups often, and you can find ‘em over at his website HERE. Enjoy!
