This week's Fourth Of July edition of Two For Tuesday shines a spotlight on our friends in France, in particular DJ Zebra. Although DJ Zebra has various mash-ups out in the great W-to-the-third-power, I choose to highlight his treatment of French rap artist Oxmo Puccino. In "Oxmohead," we are treated to an interesting marriage between Puccino and England's Radiohead that has an almost "Run D.M.C. meets Aerosmith" vibe. The unknown Puccino acapella and Radiohead's "Creep" are a great match, both in harmonic key and tempo. Further, although each song brings to the table its own distinctive energy neither overpowers the other, and thus each song is able to share the same aural plane. For instance, the blend of Puccino's rap lines over the guitar chorus lines is very well structured and balanced. All around, this is a very well produced mash-up, containing a clean pella and instrumental, and consistent form.
Acapella: Oxmo Puccino - unknown
Instrumental: Radiohead - "Creep"
