In this week's episode of Two For Tuesday I spotlight two producers' treatment of "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics. In this first instance, we have ElectroSound's version titled "Sweet Motorcycle Dreams" which employs a little Basement Jaxx as well as Alex Gopher. Crucial to any mash-up, whether using two or more song elements, is the ability of the producer to establish a motif which will bring together all the parts. ElectroSound does a nice job at establishing, early on, the underlying motif which lays a foundation for bringing all the song elements into one synergistic unit. He achieves this by employing the "...where's your head at" line from Basement Jaxx as an interplay with the "...hold your head up...keep your head up" line from "Sweet Dreams." All parts in this mash-up are well proportioned. ElectroSound achieves a good, solid balance between the Alex Gopher instrumental and the "Sweet Dreams" pella and instrumental elements. This one gets five stars because of its overall quality, solid form and content, despite that its ending leaves a little more to be desired.
Acapella: Eurythmics - "Sweet Dreams" (with some instrumental)
Acapella: Basement Jaxx - "Where's Your Head At"
Instrumental: Alex Gopher - "Motorcycle"
