Part two of "Let's Go Clubbin'" spotlights another Pheugoo dance groove. In "Humps Up," Pheugoo fuses the club-ready groove of Madonna's "Hung Up" with Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps." One could almost argue that this mash-up is practically pre-made given that it fuses two club-ready grooves. In this regard, one might even go as far as saying this mash-up could have been done by anyone. This is where I respectfully disagree. Although the fusion of two relatively distinct genres is one component of the mash-up scene (e.g., Pop pella with hip-hop beats), more DJs are producing danceable mash-ups combining club grooves with pop/hip-hop pellas. Many of these attempts wither away fast while others add dimension and depth to the ever expanding mash-up scene. Pheugoo does an excellent job to not overproduce either of the two root songs - a symptom of many DJs trying to create danceable mash-ups. He utilizes a very clean Madonna instrumental and tasteful effects (busy dial tone and phone operator) to present a nicely packaged dance groove. Let's all turn up the bass on this one, turn down the lights and grab a pair of glow sticks. There's no cover charge here! Enjoy.
