This week's "Two For Tuesday," brought to you by Professor Quillam, spotlights a producer with a clear understanding of form, content and quality - three factors I use in objectively reviewing mash-ups. Pheugoo brings us a new take on Bob Sinclar's dance anthem "Love Generation" by fusing with it a nice and clean acapella of Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You." I've listened to several commendable, yet clumsy attempts by producers to create mash-ups with Sinclar's creations. However, on Pheugoo's "Like I Love Your Generation" the listener is treated to a well produced mash-up that takes nothing away from Sinclar's dance-giant reputation, but rather adds fresh lyrics to create an even better dance groove. Pheugoo stays honest with the pop format (verse, chorus, verse, chorus) without taking away from the dance groove-ability of the original Sinclar song. Further, Pheugoo does a nice job with the dueling "shout outs" both Timberlake and Sinclar embark on in the last few seconds of the track. From start to finish, this mash-up gets 5 stars (out of 5) for its overall quality, form and content.
