History will likely teach the mash-up world that DJ Earworm is not only a talented mash-up producer but also not afraid to push the envelope. In this new "Two For Tuesday" segment at MashupTown, I, Professor Quillam, do hereby bring you a somewhat of an oldie but a goodie - DJ Earworm's "No One Takes Your Freedom." Earworm throws down some mad skills by utilizing not only 2 or 3 songs...but going deep inside the bag of tricks to put together a 4 song mash-up that could easily be renamed "Mash-up Lesson #9: For Advanced Producers Only." This man-sized production brings together a wealth of styles and influences without sacrificing form, content and quality. What is most memorable is Earworm's ability to build tension in the last 60 seconds of the song by first superimposing the "Take Your Mama" pella over George Michael's "Freedom," then proceeding to add the Aretha Franklin "Think" pella. Many producers who try this technique often fall drastically short when they overload the final 60 seconds of their mash-up with too many songs, thus muddying up what could have been a good production. Here, however, Earworm hits it dead on and provides a well orchestrated ending to a well planned out production. Repeat after me, "Bangladesh!" (that's my word for something that rocks - pass it on).
Acapella: Scissor Sisters - "Take Your Mama," Aretha Franklin - "Think," Beatles - "For No One"
Instrumental: Beatles - "For No One," George Michael - "Freedom"
