Totally User Generated Mashup Site Started

Ok so I've been waiting to do this for some time and now it finally is possible.  What I've always thought would work well is having a Mashup site that is totally user generated, easy to navigate, and where tracks and news items can be voted upon or ranked.  Think Digg or slashdot where news, mashups, mashupvideos anything to do with the scene can be put up online in one place for all to see.  Bottom line is the scene is exploding and it's tough to keep up with all the new tracks and news.  So here goes experiment number I can't remember.  Let us know what you think.  For now it will replace the suggestion link.

It's the Motion of the Potion

Maybe the best mashups in the world ever are from San Francisco.  The Bay Area’s Motion Potion (aka Mopo) has cranked out a couple of new tracks recently which can be found over on his myspace page. All of Mopo’s stuff can be filed under funky, whether it be rare groove, world groove, old school, disco, or psych jams. Here we have the familiar old school beat of Eric B. and Rakim’s "Paid in Full" as the driver for the musical and lyrical stylings of another 80’s sensation – U2. This epic jam clocks in at just over 10 minutes and is a perfect track to end off a night of wild dancing or any sort of merry-making.

With summer pretty much offically here, expect to hear alot of "fun party" tracks surfacing. And to start it off DJ Schmolli, who is no stranger to the mashuptown.com front page,gives us a track titled "Lick It Wild Thing". In it he mixes together Kiss' "Lick it Up" with Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" and 20 Fingers "Lick It". DJ Schmolli has definetly succeded in this one. New MTown Producer Alert: Dean Arrington

No relation to Dean Gray we think.  I'm a sucker for Sublime mashups so this one stalled my ADHD for a moment.  Mr. Arrington puts up an A+B - Ice Cube vs. the blokes from Sublime.  Northern CA is where he cribs and has spun vinyl in many locals across the country.  You can check out some of his remixes at www.yourremix.com.  You all have a great weekend. Bootie Pirate Prom May 27 SF!!!!

Bootie returns to San Francisco with a special "extra Bootie" for the holiday weekend. This Bootie event will be embracing a formal Pirate theme, with a first ever Bootie Prom!!! And, like any other prom, a King and Queen will be crowned at midnight, as elected by the crowd. All Bootie goers are encouraged to dress up in their finest Pirate Outfits, as a slew of prizes will be awarded for other categories too. And like any other Bootie event your resident DJ's Adrian and Mysterious D, Party Ben and DADA will be on hand to dish out the the finest pirated mash-ups around. The upstairs room will be graced with the presence of DJ's Earworm, Tripp and David X who will be spinning continuous sets of '80s flavored mash-ups. And keeping in the spirit of things, the infamous "Smash Up Derby" will also be doing an all '80s inspired live mash-up set too!! Like any other Bootie event this is sure to be an eventful night!!
