We want to welcome all the new members to the MTown Message Board.  Man we are getting some dope Mashups posted.  Team 9 has been the latest to join.  His "Money Song" has been featured as the "Mashup of the Week" on Live 105.  Here is some blah, blah about the track from the Team 9 Studios.

Hard Fi kindly sent me the vocals for this track with the intention of them turning up in a polished version of the 'Clash Machine' boot. Things didnt work out like that and I'm sure they will regret sending them to me when they hear this. Already featured as mash up of the week on Live 105

ManyMen Are Zombies

Newcomer Jadmix started posting over at MTown message boards.  Grabbed this one of of his site.  Clever mix that puts 50 cent against the Cranberries.  I must say I've never heard the N-word so many times in any other Cranberries song before.  You all have a great rest of the week and remember always to keep it real.  Peace.

MR. Laptop Punk - Can you Please read the verdict in the Case of RHCP vs. Tom Petty

Interesting track showed up on the MTown message boards this weekend.  Laptop punk has solved the recent controversy regarding the Red Hot Chili Pepper's latest single 'Dani California' ripping off Tom Petty's 'Mary Jane's Last Dance'.  Laptop has this to say about the track:

"According to Digital Spy, rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been accused of plagiarism by a radio station in the US.
Station WGMD based in Delaware has produced compelling evidence that the band’s new single “Dani California” is a rip-off of the Tom Petty track “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.”

OK,The tempo is about 10bpm different between the two, the key is also *slightly* different but other than that it's the same. This mix was made in about 3 hours and involved making an acapella of the Petty track and taking the bass/drums/guitar parts from the first verse of 'dani california' and a snippet of the guitar which sounded very similar to the harmonica part on Petty's original. A few problems with the timing of the two and syncing them but its pretty much there. This remixed version is much smoother than the first mix I did of it! Enjoy"

Well you be the judge.  Take a listen to 'Last Dance with Dani" and I bet you wouldn't think this was a Mashup.  RHCP - guilty as charged!

The new version with an extra helping of Chili vocals mixed in HERE .  Mr. Laptop had this to say: "added some chili vocals in there. I'm even more convinced that it's a direct lift now. Wasn't too sure before but have a listen to the first verse!"  Props to Mr. Laptop once again - this is a great Mashup.

Rehash Mash

Since most of the early classic Mashups here on MTown were taken offline a while back I've had a hankerin' to repost some of these classics.  They can be hard to find as they get taken offline and I see folks searching for them on this site.  Plus we have quite a few new subscribers as of late and I'd hate for them to miss out on these great tracks. Here is probably the first Mashup that got me fired up about the scene and was the inspiration for building Mashuptown.  It was coincidently picked up by Adam Curry and played on his show quickly after it was posted and folks started showing up here.  This is not the original 'Bootystition' by Smash but a new and improved remastered version.  It includes Destiny's Child, Stevie Wonder, Wild Cherry and gets finished off with a bit of Peter Gabriel.  Check out Mash-ups.co.uk for some more delicious Mashups.  Have a great week and keep it real.
